Sedation Dentistry
Did you know that, in Florida, it is required by law to have a conscious sedation permit to perform oral or IV sedation?  Many dentists claim to provide you with pain-free sedation dentistry, but they are really only providing you with “anxiolysis”, a very mild form of sedation.  Unfortunately, the average person in Florida does not realized the difference. You need to be aware of this important distinction and that our practice in Boynton Beach has a proper sedation dentistry facility. Contact us now to understand the difference.

Dr. Peterson is also an active member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and partakes in regular continuing education hours devoted specifically to sedation dentistry.  Another pre-requisite for obtaining a sedation permit, and renewing it, is a regular office inspection by the Board of Health.  Every biennium, our office is inspected, as required by the state of Florida. As an added precaution and as mandated by the State of Florida, Dr. Peterson is also trained in Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Finally, rest assured that the staff at our sedation dentistry practice is trained in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

In the proper circumstances, we provide a conscious sedation option. If this option is selected, it is imperative that someone escorts you to and from the appointment. You will take a pill one hour before your appointment and a second pill upon arrival. The second pill will let you sleep throughout the procedure, and many patients have no memory of the entire procedure.

Comfortable dentistry is our top priority. Did you know that fear of pain is the number one reason people stay away from the dental office? With the high tech advances in today’s dentistry these fears can be eliminated. The advances in dentistry now include drill-less fillings, dentistry without needles, and ultrasonic cleaning which virtually eliminates the tugging, pulling, and discomfort of dental cleanings.
Many of today’s treatments utilizing the advanced techniques and instruments in our office are virtually painless and don’t require the use of anesthesia. However, when anesthesia is preferred, we have all the options at your disposal to make your visit to the dentist an easy one.
